Rosie B. Hyden

Age, 69, of 115 West Broadway St., Burket, Indiana, went to be with the Lord at 1:10 a.m., Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born May 2, 1938, in Floyd County, she was the daughter of the late Wilburn Conn and Tennessee Hamilton. She was a homemaker.  On July 17, 1959, she married Glen “Mutt” A. Hyden, at Lancer. He survives. In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Sheila Humble of Burket, Indiana; a grandson, Jeff and wife, (Molly) Humble of Burket, Indiana; six sisters: Lexie Stephens of Pierceton, Indiana, and Loretta Risner, Eunice Sammons, Joanna Lafferty, Marcelene and husband, (Carl) Hyden, and Linda and husband, (Sherman) Martin, all of Kentucky; three brothers: Curtis Conn, David and wife, (Patricia) Conn, Troy and wife, (Joan) Conn all of Kentucky. Also greatly loved by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two infant sisters.  Funeral services will be held Friday, August 3, at 10:30 a.m., at King Memorial Home, 101 North Tucker Street, Mentone, Indiana, with Pastor Carl Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the Hill-crest Cemetery, Pierceton, Indiana, under the direction of King Memorial Home, Mentone, Indiana. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, August 2, at King Memorial Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., conducted by Pastor Wayne Whitaker.

Ruth Ilene Light

Age 72, of Beaver, Ky., passed away Saturday, July 21, 2007, at her residence. She was born March 3, 1935 in Ashtabula, Ohio, a daughter of the late John and Mable Williams Fogle. She was a housewife. Survivors include two sons: Curtis Light of Melvin, and Gary Light of Ligon; three daughters: Brenda Vance and Debbie Tackett both of Beaver, and Chris Gayheart of Martin; four brothers: Jack Fogle, Dick Fogle, and Bob Fogle all of Ohio, and Harry Fogle of Price; two sisters: Mary Gerrick of Andover, Ohio, and Margaret Lewis of Dorset, Ohio; 16 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Teddie Wayne Light and Johnny Light.  Funeral services for Ruth Ilene Light were conducted Tuesday, July 24, at 11:00 a.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, in Martin, with Clergymen Louie Ferrari, Bill Slone and Larry Tackett officiating. Burial followed in the Vance Cemetery, Beaver. Visitation was at Hall Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Jerry Tackett, Anthony Tackett, Scott Gayheart, Timmy Gayheart, Billy Light, Brandon Light, Colt Vance, Wesley Light, Dustin Tackett and Josh Tackett. Charles Ray Broglin

Age, 67, of Erin, Tennessee, formerly of Wheelwright, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at Centennial Medical Center, in Nashville, Tennessee. Born August 4, 1939, in Wheelwright, he was the son of the late Clell and Caldora Johnson Broglin. He was a retired steel factory worker and United States Army veteran. Survivors include two brothers: Hubert Morris of Whitesville, West Virginia, Clell Broglin of Erin, Tennessee; six sisters: Sedella Brooks, Viola Shook, Marlene Haley, all of Erin, Tennessee, Lucille Cheppella of Detroit, Michigan, Bonita Newsome of Little Robinson Creek, and Stella Beard of North Carolina. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Howard Morris and Homer Morris; three sisters: Barbara Younce, Beula Bragg and Liz Jackson.  Funeral services were held Monday, July 23, at 10 a.m., at Little Rosa Regular Baptist Church of the Indian Bottom Association at McDowell, with ministers of the Regular Baptist Church officiating.  Burial was in the Family Cemetery, Golf Hollow, Wheelwright, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin. Raymond "Red" Walker

Age, 72, of Farmers, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2007, in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born on September 16, 1934, in Floyd County, the son of the late Homer Ray and Gertie Delores Stevens Walker. He was a retired coal miner. He was a member of the United Mine Workers and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald Walker; a daughter, Dianna Gore; two brothers: Harold Glen Walker and Bill Walker; and a sister, Annette Mills. He is survived by his wife, Beulah Sparkman Walker, whom he married on December 31, 1953, of Farmers; a son, David Walker and his wife, Chelia of Weeksbury; two daughters: Deborah Walker of Farmers and Delanna Caraway and her husband, David of Winslow, Arizona; son-in-law, James Gore of Fairfield, Ohio,; a brother, Clifford Walker of South Milford, Indiana; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 25, in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky- Gray Funeral Home, in Morehead with Rev. Barkley Slone officiating. Brenda J. Davis

Age, 56, of Newcomerstown, died July 20, 2007, at her home. Born May 17, 1951 at Van Lear, she was the daughter of Ruby Griffith Powers and the late George Powers. She is survived by her husband, Gary Preston. Other survivors include two sons: Eric (Angela) Davis and their sons, James and Benjamin of East Point, and Aaron (Melissa) Davis and their children: Kyle and Kelly of Lowmansville. She will also be missed by her siblings which include three sisters: Neva Ferrell of Lake Como, Florida, Lavern McCluve of Navarre, Ohio, and Georjia Marsillett, of Prestonsburg; three brothers, Darrell Powers of Auxier, Mike Powers of Auxier, and Cecil Powers, of Massillon, Ohio. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Powers and her son, James A. Davis II. A memorial service was held at her home in Newcomerstown on July 23, with The Rev. David Carroll officiating. Arnie Amburgey Baisden

Age, 72, of Prestonsburg, died Thursday, July 19, 2007, at McDowell Appalachian Regional Healthcare. Born July 29, 1934, in Knott County, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Corsie Collins Amburgey. She was a homemaker and member of Martin Branch Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Tate Baisden. Survivors include three sons: Jeffery Baisden of Prestonsburg, Dewey Baisden and Junior Baisden, both of Michigan; a daughter, Phyllis Lake of Wayland; four sisters: Jewel of Clay City, Nola, Anita and Lucille, all of Richmond, Indiana; 22 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, William Donovan Baisden; a daughter, Wilberdeen Baisden; two brothers: Larry Gail and Roy Allen; five sisters: Lois, Lonnie, Vivian, Wanell and Irene. Funeral services were held Monday, July 23, at noon, at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin, with Bob Evans and Lonnie Bradley officiating. Loraine Slade Halbert

Age 84 of Martin, passed away on Monday, July 23, 2007, at her residence. She was born February 24, 1923, at Weeksbury, the daughter of the late Edgar Charles "E.C." Slade and Lula Elliott Slade. She was a retired beautician and a member of the Martin Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband: Denzil "Hoss" Halbert; a sister, Elaine Slade Howard; and a grandson, Mark Tyler Howard. Survivors include two sons: Stephen Dennis Halbert of Martin, and Dr. Allan Duane Halbert of Lexington; two daughters: Susan Halbert Stewart and Ada Jayne Howard both of Martin; one sister, Bonnie Hopkins of Waverly, Ohio; grandchildren: Ginger Michelle Halbert, Cara Loraine Stewart and Julie Elaine Stewart all of Martin, Amy Susanne Hyden of Prestonsburg, Andrea Brooke Halbert of Lexington, and Shawn Elliott Howard of Gunlock; great-grandchildren: Jeremy Pack, Luke Hyden, Isabella Hyden, Ethan Howard and Alexis Howard. Funeral services for Loraine Slade Halbert will be conducted, Wednesday, July 25, at 1:00 p.m., at Hall Funeral Home in Martin, with Clergyman Arnold Turner officiating. James Gregory Ratliff

Age 56, of Sitka, formerly of Langley, passed away Monday, July 23, 2007, at his residence. He was born June 19, 1951, in Martin, the son of the late Jimmy Ratliff and Ruby Jewell Jones Ratliff. He was a former parts clerk for Elkhorn Industrial, a member and Past Master of John W. Hall Masonic Lodge F & AM 950, 32 Degree Mason, Past District Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky. He was a Charter member of Hadassah Chapter 575, Order of Eastern Star where he was Past Patron, Past Deputy Patron, District 5, a member of the Olieka Shrine, drove the bus for the Shriner's Children's Hospital and was involved with the Shriner's Circus. He was also a member of the Hillbilly Clan #31, Outhouse 2, and a member of the Maytown Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors two include brothers, Charlie Ratliff, Sitka, Ky., and Brian Ratliff, Martin, Ky., three sisters, Reka Wood, Langley, Ky., Reba Yeary, Dwale, Ky., and Karen Akers, Sitka, Kentucky. Funeral services for James Gregory Ratliff will be conducted, Thursday, July 26, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky., with the Clergyman Jerry Manns officiating. Burial will follow in the Ratliff Family Cemetery, Langley, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
