Survivors include her husband, Pervis Martin; two sons, Lester and James Martin, both of Kendallville, Indiana; eight brothers, Clayton Hall of Warsaw, Indiana, Glen Hall, Raymond Hall and Paul Hall, all of Marion, Ohio, Tracy Hall and Earnest Hail, both of Paintsville, Bennie Hall of Elkhart, and Rex  Hall of Willard, Ohio; three sisters, Alean Springer of Marion, Ohio, Judy Faye Newsome of Warsaw, Indiana, and Rosalee Martin of Drift; and one grandchild. Funeral services were Sunday, November 1, at the Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville, Indiana. Burial was in the Lakeview Cemetery in Kendallville.

Floyd Compton

Age 47, of Prestonsburg, died Monday, November 2, 1998, of a sudden illness. Born June 23, 1951, in Floyd County, he was the son of Bill Compton of Prestonsburg, and the late Lona Handshoe Compton. He was a disabled truck driver and mechanic. Survivors include two sons, Floyd Thomas Compton and Jesse Ray Compton both of Auxier; six brothers, Bill Jack Compton, Clay Compton, Elbert Compton, Verlie Compton, Wayne Compton all of Prestonsburg, and Amon Compton of Prater Creek; two sisters, Sally Perry of Prestonsburg, Pearlie Bailey of David. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 6, at noon, at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home in Martin. Burial will be in the Compton Family Cemetery on Spurlock, in Prestonsburg.

Eugene Akers

Age 69, of Betsy Layne, died Monday, November 2, 1998, at the Veterans Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Born June 29, 1929, at Betsy Layne, he was the son of the late Ned Akers and Nettie Elam Akers. He was a retired coal miner, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and a lifetime members of the D.A.V. No. 169. Survivors include his wife, Rose "Christene" Hardin Akers; two sons, Nedford Eugene Akers of Betsy Layne and Crawford Dewayne Akers of Flat Gap; four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday, November 6, at 1 p.m., at the Betsy Layne Freewill Baptist Church, with the clergymen Tracy Patton and James Branham officiating, Burial will be in the Bush Cemetery at Boldman, under thedirection of Hall Funeral Home, Martin.

Johnnie Crisp

Age 58, of Arkansas Creek, Martin, died Wednesday, November 4, 1998, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg, following an extended illness. Born February 4, 1940, in Floyd County, he was the son of the late Crit and Katie Branham Crisp. He was a disabled miner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Conn Crisp, on May 8, 1994. Survivors include two sons, Johnny Ray Crisp of Allen and Dennis James Crisp of Martin; one daughter, Sharon Mullins of Martin; two brothers, George Crisp of Drift and Tony Murdock of Chicago, Illinois; five sisters, Nova Jean Wright of Mentone, Indiana, Helen Meyers, Libby Mann and Avonelle Crisp, all of Florence, and Etta Marie Bowen of Ypsilanti, Michigan; and four grandchildren. Age 83, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, formerly of Wheelwright, died Monday, November 2, 1998, at Jeffersonian Care Center in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, following an extended illness. Born February 26, 1915, in Breathitt County, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Nancy Mullins Brown. She was a retired Avon representative and a member of the Upper Burton Pentecostal Church at Bypro. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Jones, on Febrnary28, 1973. · Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Hammons of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Rose Ferguson of Michigan; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Graveside services were Thursday, November 5, at 1:30 p.m., at the Buckingham Cemetery at Bevinsville.

Kathryn Stumbo Frazier

Age 83, of Prestonsburg, longtime civic leader and educator, died Tuesday, November 3, 1998, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg. Born September 21, 1915, in Prestonsburg, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Anna Harmon Stumbo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chalmer H. Frazier. She taught elementary and high school music in Prestonsburg for over 40 years. Mrs. Frazier was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she served as organist for 50 years. Survivors include two daughters, Kay Ann Wilborn of, Lexington and Elizabeth L. Frazier of Prestonsburg; one son, William C. Frazier of Ashland; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were Saturday, November 7, at Il a.m.. at the First United Methodist Church in Prestonsburg, with Dr. Harold Dorsey and Rev. Wayne Sayer officiating. Burial will be in the Porter Cemetery in Prestonsburg.

Estill Crager

Age 65, of Garrett, Indiana, died Friday, October 30, 1998, at his residence. Born June 30, 1933, in Gunlock, he was the son of Effie Sheppard Crager of Floyd County, and the late Jimmy Crager. He was a factory worker at Kitchen Quip and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Garrett, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Stevens Crager. In addition to his mother, he is survived by one son, David Crager of Garrett, Indiana; four brothers, Cletis Crager of Avilla, Indiana, Herman Crager of Corunna, and Norman Crager and Vernon Crager, both of Hueysville; and two sisters, Ruth Wallace of Hueysville and Marie Hicks of Kendallvitle, Indiana. Born November 18, 1922, in Floyd County, she was the daughter of the late Louisa Steadham Ison and Steven Ison. She was a retired secretary for Chrisman Insurance Company for over 30 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pikeville for 15 years and a member of the Friendship Class and Jolly Bunch at the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Edmonds. Survivors include one step-daughter, Phyllis McAnallen of Pikeville; one sister, Hilma Weil of Rochester, Michigan; and three step- grandchildren. James "Jack" Conley

Age 70, of Martin, died Wednesday, November 4, 1998, at Our Lay of the Way Hospital, Martin, following a short illness. Born April 9, 1928, at Martin, he was the son of the late Bascom and Nettie Williams Conley. He was a retired conductor and yard master for the CSX Railroad. He was a member of the Faith Bible Church
at Martin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Conley. Survivors include two sons, James E. Conley and Larry D. Age 79 of Westland Mich., d1ed Aug 20, at St. Mary's Hospital in Lavonia, MI.  Born Oct. 20, 1918 in Martin, son of the late William Isaac and Mary Stephens Flannery. WWII Army vet. Survivors include wife, Nellie Fatalski, nine step childern; one brother, Charles Elis Flanery,; one sister Anna Hagg. Burial Cofax Township Cemetery.

Arthur Judd

Age 67 of Martin, died Nov. 12, at Our Lady of the Way Hospital in Martin. Born Sept. 17, 1931, at Drift, s/o the late Lester and Lizzie Miller Judd. U. S. Airforce Vet. Survivors include wife, Carol Lee Majors Judd; three sons, Lester Thomas, Mark Alan and John Arthur Judd; three sisters, Irene Reitz, Magaline Burkett and Josephine Hobson. Burial was in the Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville.

Thelma Prater Millette

Age 89 of Weeksbury, died Nov. 14, at Riverside Hospital in Trenton MI. Born April 5, 1909, in Whitehouse, d/o the late William and Alice Caudill Prater. Preceded in death by husband John R. Mollette on April 1, 1988. Survivors include one dau. Alice Hall. Burial was in the Weeksbury Cemetery.

William R. Spencer

Age 93, of Martin, died Nov. 15,  at Three Rivers Medical in Louisa. Born Aug. 17, 1905, in Drift, s/o the late Martin and Maudie Moore Spencer. Survivors include wife, Wendy Spencer; one son, Robert A. Spencer, one brother, Lee Spencer; one sister, Peacie Warrens. Burial was in the Harry Lee Moore Cemetery at Turkey Creek, Langley.

Age 67, of Minnie, died Nov. 18, at the Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg. Born in Quinwood WV, d/o the late Allen and Bessie Satts Whitts. Survivors include two sons, John Paul Biliter Jr. and R. David Biliter; two sisters, Irene Turner and Loraine Sheldon.

Age 43, of Garrett, died Nov. 20. Born Feb. 14, 1955 in Nichoasville, son of the late Roy Hoover and Rebecca Salisbury Conley. Survivors include wife, Jeanetta Moore Hoover; one dau. Teddy Lee Collins

Age 47, of Garrett, died Nov. 23, at his residence. Born March 18, 1951, in McDowell, s/o Dovie Collins and the late Madison Collins. Age 81 of Silver Lake IN. died Sept. 12, 1998, in Warsaw, IN. Born MAy 28, 1917 at Blue River, s/o Carew and Callie Brown Slone. Married Ida Hall on Aug. 8, 1942 who survives. Other survivors include three sons, Ted, Will and Darrell Slone; four Dau, Hattie Brown, Marcie Kirk, Louise Hopkins and Edna Hughs; two sisters, Ann Gibson and Athne Gibson. Burial was in the Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.

Jaricha Leigh Spurlock

Age 24, of Lexington, formerly of Martin, died Nov. 18, at her residence. Born Sept. 23, 1974 in Prestonsburg, d/o Ellis Gerald Spurlock and Stella Bentley Spurlock. Survivors include parents, one brother, Kevin G. Spurlock; two sisters, Amanda Jolene and Lorabeth Danielle Spurlock. Her paternal grandfather, Hobert Spurlock and Maternal grandmother Anna Lee Bentley . Entombment was at the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.

Age 76, of Hindman, died Nov. 13, at Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center. Born Dec. 8, 1921 in Knott Co., d/o the late Bud and Ruth Lawson Fair.  Survivors include husband, Homer Hall; two sons, Donald Hall and Laman (Goble Hall; eigth dau. Goldie Slone, Opal Fuller, Susie Kanard, Pauline Madden, Juanita Rowatt, Elousie Posten, Evelyn Crager and Emma Jean Mollette; one brother Sibo Fair; three sisters, Jessie Fair, Ella Combs and May Alice Pratt. Burial was in the Homer and Martha Hall Cemetery at Hindman.

Randy Blake Murphy

Age 48, of Dana, died Nov. 18, at Central Baptist Hospital. Born Pike Co. Mar. 8, 1950, s/o Amba Burris and Eral Murphy who survive. Other survivors include three sisters, Loretta Adkind, Sandra Leslie and Vanessa Towns.  Burial was in the Miller Family Cemetery at Stone Coal.

Cosby Bolen

Age 86, of Hueysville, formerly of Knott Co., died Nov, 19. Born Mar. 13, 1912 In VA, d/o the late Jess and Flarandy Sparkman Hicks. She was preceded in death by husband Ellis Bollen. Survivors include six sons, Harland, Orville, Fixie, Ronnie, Larry and Roger Bolen; two dau., Rosanne Conley and Linda Wireman; two brothers, John and Leslie Hicks; one sister, Goldie Charles. Burial was in the Terry Cemetery at Hueysville.

Edith Mae Herald White

Age 79, of Lexington, formerly of Prestonsburg, died Nov. 20, at her residence. Born Mar. 5, 1919 at Prestonsburg, d/o William "Buck" and Lula Ouslry Gray. Survivors include husband James O. White; one son Robert Thomas Herald Jr.; one dau. Dorothy Thompson; one sister Nancy Gray Wells. Burial was in Davidson Memorial Gardens, At Ivel.

John Jessie McKinney

Age 60, of Orion, Michigan, formerly of Harold, died Sunday, November 23, at his residence. Born December 10, 1936 at Harold, he was the son of the late Herman and Allie Hamilton McKinney. He was a retired General Motors employee. Survivors include one son, John Thomas McKinney of Holly, Michigan; one daughter, Gay Ann McKinney of Waterford, Michigan; one stepdaughter, Polly Tribble of Mayville, Michigan; six brothers, Ronnie McKinney of Ortonville, Clinton McKinney and Michael McKilmey, both of Harold, Edgar McKinney of Pikeville, Terry McKinney of Holly, Michigan, Danny McKinney of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; four sisters, Tina Hamilton of Rockwood, Michigan, Connie Richardson of South Rockwood, Michigan, Teresa Stevens of Harold and Vanessa Martin of Burnswick, Ohio; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday, November 28, at 1 la.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel in Martin with ministers of the Victory Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Hunt Family Cemetery at Harold.
