Michael Dwayne Shortridge

Age, 26, of Prestonsburg, died Monday, October 1, 2007, at his residence.  Born February 23, 1981, in Richlands, Virginia, he was the son of Michael Wayne and Irma Lou Dale Shortridge of Prestonsburg. He was a truck driver  He is survived by his wife, Jodie Hall Shortridge. Survivors, in addition to his wife and parents, include two sons: Michael Tyler Shortridge, and Miles Dwayne Shortridge; and a daughter, Katelynn Joyce Shortridge, all of Prestonsburg; a brother, Matthew Paul Shortridge of Prestonsburg; and his paternal grandfather, Paul Shortridge of London.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Teves Woodrow and Stella T. Deel Dale; and his paternal grandmother, Billie Bowling Shortridge.  Fneral services were held Thursday, October 4, at 1 p.m., at Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin, with Jimmy Brown officiating. Burial was in the Gethsemane Gardens, in Prestonsburg, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home. Visitation was at the funeral home.

Charles Joseph “C.J.” McNally

Age 76 of Prestonsburg, passed from this life on Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at his residence. He was born December 25, 1930, in London, the son of the late Martin Joseph McNally and Viola Cook Black.  He was the retired owner of East Ky. Auto Parts of Prestonsburg, a veteran of the U.S. Army; a captain of the Army Reserve Unit; a member of Zebulon Masonic Lodge No. 273 of Prestonsburg, a member of the Oleika Shrine Temple of Ashland; and a member of the First Baptist Church (Irene Cole Memorial) of Prestonsburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Dordena Pack McNally; and a grandson, Adam Burchett. Survivors include a son, Kipley (Benita) McNally of Louisville; two daughters, Cindra (Thomas) McNally Burchett of Winchester, and Charla (Richard) McNally Burchett of Sarasota, Florida; nine grandchildren: Carlye Thacker, Charles Burchett, Mary Burchett, Celina Burchett, Mitchell Burchett, Kala McNally, Trent McNally, Kendra McNally; and a great-grandchild: Eileen Sophie Thacker. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 6, at 11:00 a.m., in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, in Martin, with Jerry Workman officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville. Visitation is from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zebulon Masonic Lodge, No. 273, F&AM, P. O. Priscilla Baldridge Hager

Age, 96, of East Point, died Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg.  Born August 10, 1911, at Little Paint, she was the daughter of the late Zachariah Baldridge and Lucretia Rice Baldridge. She was a former merchant; a telephone operator for Southern Bell Telephone Company for four years; an Avon representative for 15 years; assistant postmaster at East Point for 21 years; and a postmaster for 2 1/2 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, in Prestonsburg, since 1970; and a member of the East Point Homemakers, East Point Development Club; Methodist Sewing Circle; and United Methodist Women.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry H. Hager, who died December 29, 1974. Survivors include a daughter, Roslyn Burchett (Robert) of Prestonsburg; two sons: Paul C. Hager (Joyce) of Berea, and David Hager (Sandy) of Pataskala, Ohio; a sister, Ruth Mellon of Ashland; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Auxier Hager of Paintsville; her caregiver and companion, Rose Buchanan; 10 grandchildren,: Julie Hager Love (George), Edward Hager, Diana Burchett Turner (Neil), Harry L. Burchett (Sandra), Sharon Hager, Karen Hager Daniel (Kenny), Patrick Howard (Shannon), Robin Hager Brown (Ralph), Toni Hager Orwick (Tom), and Teri Hager Siple (Andy); and 12 great-grandchildren: Cameron Paul Love, Eliza Kathryn Love, Joshua Neil Turner, Matthew Kyle Turner, Victoria Daniel, Michael Turner, Logan Turner, Haley Howard, Tara Orwick, Krista Orwick, Evan Siple, and Emma Siple. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Joyce Howard; a son, Bob Hager, and 14 sisters and brothers. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 5, at 11 a.m., at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. George Love officiating. Interment will be in Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel. Contributions are suggested to the First United Methodist Church, 256 South Arnold Avenue, Prestonsburg, Ky. 41653.
